She was my first Alzheimer's client and I learned a lot about the disease because of her. I also learned many things from her and her will to be alive and independent. I remember reading about the disease, studying, planning what our shift would be like, and she managed to show me how little I knew and who was in charge.
She died this week and I couldn't say goodbye to her. On my last visit to the nursing home, I couldn't get in because of a flu outbreak and she couldn't wait for me another week.
However, I got to tell her many times how much I loved her, how amazing and smart she was, and how much I admired her.
I am sad to lose her, but I am happy for the privilege I had to know her.
This blog is to celebrate her memory; vĂ¡ em paz, minha querida!
